Aw, so cute! And so sad. The thought of losing my animals in a disaster is just horrible. I think I'd end up being one of those people who refuse to evacuate for fear of leaving the kitties behind. :(
The idea just breaks my heart. To have lost so much, and not even knowing if your furry friends are safe on top of it all - I don't think I could cope.
I know a lot of people specifically want to adopt an animal from the disaster, but I think they're doing the right thing looking for the owners. Can you imagine the looks on the family's faces when the ARK volunteers showed up with their rescued pets? I wouldn't stop smiling for weeks!
I've been thinking about this all day today, and I'm going to do some pet-related disaster planning this coming weekend. I'm thinking I'll put together a duffel bag with a small litter box (I already have one from when Tori was a kitten) some food, water and litter, and a dog-size pop-up carrier that can be folded down small. At least that way I could grab the cats and keep them safe in a motel room or borrowed room or even my car. Maybe I should throw in a flashlight and some protein bars for myself. ;)
It's probably a good idea. Hopefully, you'll never have to use it, but if something does happen, it'll be one less worry for you and your kitties. And if the ever do have to move to an unfamiliar location, they'd probably be really relieved to have their preferred kind of food with them.
Are those your cats in your icons? They're lovely!

I'll give a friend of mine a nudge. He had just moved to Tokyo prior the disaster. Maybe he'll be interested.

Sweet lil guys, aren't they? I'm equally a dog and cat person, so they're doubly irresistible!
