According to TV by the Numbers House got kicked in the gut by DWTS. It lost more than 2 million viewers since it's last episode two weeks ago.

Interesting. I don't watch DWTS, but I do like some reality shows. They're people competing against each other for a prize or a title, not unlike sports. I guess I've just never understood all the reality show snobbery out there. Nobody's forced to watch. And given the crappy downturn of House, I can kinda see why some would turn to DWTS instead, sadly. I usually watch a rerun of NCIS during that time.

We have DWTS and the Hungarian equivalent of American Idol here in Hungary, and I can understand AI where everyday people compete with each other for a prize. But DWTS just doesn't do anything for me, I'm not interested to watch stars dancing or go to the jungle survivor style (we had that also).

Yeah, I kinda understand too.

After taking a hiatus from House I actually watched this latest episode of House and found that I can watch it with detachment and not get upset because of the turn of events. I laughed at the patient when he told those things to Cuddy, until it turned out it was House's way of complimenting her. It was a totally unnecessary scene...

If I had the time, I'd be watching "Survivor," "The Bachelor," and, yes, "American Idol."

I watch American Idol. It's something we can all watch as a family. The boys and Mike like it a lot. I'm always interested in Survivor, but I have this funny thing with that show. Every time I've said to myself, "Ooh Survivor's starting a new season. I'm gonna watch." Real life interferes so much I never get a chance. But every time I've seen a new season is coming and just shrugged it off, I end up watching every episode. I set out to watch the current season and I've missed the last two episodes. Heh!

My favorite is The Amazing Race. I DVR that one just in case I miss it.

This is immature of me. But I'm perversely pleased that the show's ratings are slipping to a program so insipid. Maybe TPTB will take notice.

Re: reality TV shows? I think for me the few I've ever watched have been when I just want complete escapism. To watch something like "Survivor," which I used to view, asks for little in terms of brain power from those who tune in. Sometimes I need that.

But yeah. I know what you're saying.

Apart from the fact that I don't understand why would people want to watch DWTS instead of House, I'm kinda glad too that House lost some of its audience. It shows that people stuck with it because they found it better than the other shows, but as soon as something better came (for them at least), they were not interested anymore.

"Maybe TPTB will take notice."

We can only hope.
