I'm so excited! I have 5 days off in a row now, with no need to wake up and make sure a Certain Person goes to school. Plus, No Work! I feel quite giddy. And I only have to work 5 hours next week and no weekends during intersession. It's almost like a vacation!

I can relate to your mixed feelings about Xmas, trying to figure out how to celebrate it for myself these days.I've been going through the most anti-Xian phase of my life so with the holiday upon us, it's harder than usual to reconcile all that's going on in my head. Sorry about your friend.

I'm with you on the Christmas ambivalence. As a non-believer, in some ways it makes no sense to celebrate. We tried to establish a solstice celebration, but Christmas has an extended familyy tidal pull like no other.

One thing I like to think about it: I'm not sure I really believe in positive energy as a... true thing, but it's nice to know that there is so much good will on that day, all over the world. Yeah, there is bad too, but still, so many people are making an extra effort and all that. I dunno.

In other words, I hear ya.

Your shopping trip sounds like fun.

As for David Brooks? If someone figures it out and wins your prize, please let me know.
