It is absolutely not stupid to be upset about a pet dying. Pets are part of the family and we love them; that is the whole point of a pet. I was upset when Snowflake died a couple of years ago, and we had a cat named Sugar who died when I was about ten or eleven -- my mom had him since before I was born so I literally had never known a house without Sugar.
I agree with Liz. Even with the love/hate relationship I have with Baxter, if something were to happy to him, I'd be really, really upset. You care about pets, you take care of them and love on them, so it's natural to be upset when they're dying. I never had a cat or a dog for years and years but I had a hamster that lived almost six years (ungodly long for a hamster it seemed) and when he died, I was a wreck.
Love you too wifey. ♥ Thanks for this, sometimes it's easy to forget how much of a role pets play in our everyday lives. God forbid anything TRY and happen to Bax, he's a fighter.
<3333! It was rough for us the past few days, but all we could was make him comfortable and show him how loved he was. Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it
There haven't been any pets in my house since the brother was born (he's allergic to just about all of them in some way, sad face, and Mom's not to thrilled on reptiles or fish, LOL), and so I'm not really used to animals anymore, but... this is so not a stupid thing to be upset about. Family is family is family. <3

I can't make Dr Who come faster, and I'm even less able to make losing your kitty stop sucking. However, on the happiness IV front, I needed one all of March, so I compiled these:

and

Hopefully they'll help a bit. <3
