Actually, I have no idea. I now think that whenever it appears on somebody's friends page, I get a little mark on the map... (which makes me seem amazingly popular! 346 views!) ;-)

I think it counts visits whereever you post it, so if it's in a journal entry and people keep reloading their friends pages, the number of visitors can get surprisingly high.
