Part 1 Countdown: 5 Days Left. Loom Knitting...Days Away!

Yesterday, I came to my blog, completely uninspired. I had the worst case of writer's block, that (I am quite sure) the world has ever known. I looked at the blank text box, for the longest time, trying to find a word, to even start yesterday's post. For half an hour (at least), I just looked at the screen, and wished that there was some magical ( Read more... )

I think the doily turned out great! And how awesome was your mom's reaction! And I'm going to go ahead and say that your grandma would probably be pretty proud of ALL the projects you've completed or even attempted at this point. I'm sure she'd be honored that you used her hook and have mastered an art that she, too, loved. =)

That doily turned out awesome! I love how you used the memories of your grandma as inspiration - she would be so proud of all that you've done! As for the fiber...thread, yarn, floss - doesn't matter what it's made of...it's still a DOILY!! Your aunt is just a "Debbie Downer" and good for you for standing up for your craft.
Have fun at the mall - it'll be a nice yarn time-out :)

Thank you very much! =)
My grandmother used to make doilies, day in, and day out. After making JUST ONE, she has my respect. WHEW!!! WHAT A CHALLENGE!
My aunt is always like this. I wish it would change. I am tiring of it.

It's beautiful! I bet your grandmother is honored to be your inspiration. And I'm sure she's proud of everything you've accomplished!

Don't listen to the haters! I think doilies are awesome, but I'm not the "let's have something lacy lying around just for the heck of it" type. So I make all of mine out of worsted weight cotton in bright colors and use them as trivets. They get a lot more use, make me super happy, and do a damn fine job!

Keep doing what works for YOU! When you start doing what others think you should be doing, your works won't be as fun or well-made. You're doing such a great job!

Thank you. It is nice to see support. I am very honored, by it. Normally, I am not into lacy, either. But, I LOVE this doily. It is just so purty. LOL!

Love the doily - awesome job, Michael.
Your Grandmother must be bustin' her buttons at your crocheting accomplishments.

Your Mom's comments were great. As to you Aunt - good job in standing up for yourself and your projects. Someone that negative must feel aweful inside.

Have a good mall break and enjoy your time out.

Hugs and happy stitching,

Kae

Thanks, Kae!
Yes...my aunt is going to start getting put in her place, when she offers such words. I am just done, with it. I mean, there was NO reason.
I would like to think my grandma would be proud. I don't know...Nice thought, though.

You are a far better person than me! I could never complete round 4 of a doily! For some reason I have a mental block but yours is gorgeous.
