Tell your mom that is not a collection. It is a stash and it is essential to your work as an artist. People do not tell carpenters that they have too many tools. Or golfers that they have too many clubs. Yarn is a tool for you and you need it.

Besides, you are so new to the craft that I really think the likely hood of you having a big enough stash is pretty low. She should come by my house and see my stash. (And for the record, my stash is pretty small). There are crafters that have entire rooms devoted to their stash. I know people who have taken to shoving yarn down the sleeves of winter coats in the closet (or inside the piano or tucked into the gravy boat that they only use for Thanksgiving and Christmas) just to get a little extra storage.

There is even the concept of SABLE (Stash Axquisition Beyond Life Expectancy) where the crafter has gotten so much yarn that there is no way they can knit it all up before they die.

Believe me, you are no where near such levels and therefore an intervention is really premature.

Hehe...No, I am not QUITE there, yet.
I have my yarn, filling a five drawer cabinet, tucked into every square inh of a bookshelf, bulging out of my closet, and threatening to spring out of a suitcase.
I have myself a good start. But, I am not at intervention stage yet. Good to know.

Trust me, you will get to intervention level someday but you haven't even begun to "hit bottom" yet.

SABLE - term used when others add to your stash kae1crafts September 3 2010, 17:38:53 UTC
Michael,

I love your halloween bag and also the concept that you are using to extend your granny square afghan.

Thanks for the pic of the bag - eagerly awaiting the afghan pics.

You CAN'T be to SABLE yet - you're too young for that - I'm (on the other hand), approaching that thanks to a generous donation of 'charity yarn' that was given to me. I'm not sure if I'm the charity or the yarn is for charity projects but I still have more than three large garbage bags full added to my already extensive stash! And I have another birthday coming up next week- one that puts me over another hill! LOL

Hugs and happy stitching - let the yarn help soothe the family drama.

Kae,
Happy upcoming B-day. I went to send you a birthay v gift, then remembered...done already. Hehe.
I hope that, as I work with my yarn today, that it can help calm me. God knows I need to be calmed.
Thanks for the reading me. It always is so cool to see a message from you.

Hey.
Sounds like it's been a bit of a circus around your house lately! Family drama never ends, does it? I know I have my own drama's keeping me busy. lol

I think I may be commenting on some stuff from yesterday too, but I'm sorry to hear you have another surgery coming up. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Love the halloween bag! It's totally and completely cute. I can hardly wait to make one!! I concur with another poster...I can't wait to see the afghan!

I love shopping for yarn. It is soothing and relaxing and therapeutic. And I tell you...don't stop doing it! You need it!! Even if you can't afford it...just go pet it. :)

I'm sure I'm forgetting alot of things I wanted to say to you, but there is alot of commotion around me right now, so I can't think straight. Talk with you soon.

Awesome bag!

Family drama stinks! Hope things get better on that front.

The messy quilt look sounds pretty cool.

I love the Bag! It looks so much FUN! Drama is no good no matter where it comes from, but I know drama that my father has had with his siblings, so it's nothign new to hear about.

Well...thank you. I am glad you like my Halloween Bag. I am very pleased with it.
Yeah...sibling rivalries...they are typical. They still bite, though.
And, my Aunt...she is just proving to be EVIL. That is all there is to it.
