Kapow Comic Con Merlin Report
I've seen so many people doing these today and what better way to post something here than with my own special report! Alright, it's not special but it does contain a lot of love! <3
I set off with my friend, Emma, at about 2am to travel down to London by coach! We were exhausted already by the time we got down there, but we were running on fangirl energy and set off to Islington early so we could get a really good spot in the queue! I met a lovely guy called Peng (I'm so sorry if I spelt your name wrong!) and chatted with him for a few hours about all things Merlin which was awesome! It's amazing how much forget and remember when you talk to another fan! XD I found it funny that we got let in before the VIP crowd, but anywho, we raced off to try and find the HMV booth so we could start another queuing session for the signing! However, you can imagine how a massive Merlin banner got me side-tracked! There were some amazing stuff there like posters, figures, stamped envelope...EVERYTHING!
Managed to find the queue after meeting a lovely bunch of fans, one holding a sign helped! haha. They were soooo lovely! This was my first ever convention and time of meeting the cast so I was pretty nervous, but everyone made me feel much better when they told me some of their experiences!
Waiting was the worst. I'd heard a few stories of them being late before and figured this time probably could be the same. We passed the time by chatting about fave episodes, looking at some AMAZING pictures taken of Colin and Bradley, having Gwen and Morgana kiss as dolls and the odd chat about the slash dragon! I even spoke with someone (dressed as Dorothy! so cute!) about asking Bradley if he smelt like cookies! haha!
They arrived late, but who cares?! They all looked gorgeous! I was seeing them in the flesh for the first time and all I could think was 'OMGOMGOMGOMG'! I'd brought some pictures of Merlin and Arthur doing a scene from Monty Python and a few people thought it was cute! That and my random little t-shirt which said 'Come along, Merlin! Haven't got all day!'
First thing I noticed about Colin...HE IS SO FREAKING TALL! That and his smile is so cheeky!
When I was my turn to go and get my poster signed, the first to talk to me was Angel! It was so weird being close to someone I'd only seen acting on TV and from Youtube clips, but she was lovely. She asked if I wanted her to write in black or silver and I told her I didn't mind which she used! I showed Katie my picture and she laughed , pointing out Gwen to Angel who said she looked like a chibi and all nervous! How does Katie look so beautiful all the time?! She asked about the carrot on her cartoon nose and I said 'no idea'. I think she said 'let's just say it's there because I'm just so good'! xD
Moved onto Bradley and Colin! -faints- SO CUTE AND SO UP CLOSE! Bradley said that he'd heard about me donating to the Great Ormond Street charity he was doing and I was like 'Yep!...How do you know?' and he said 'I have my ways!'. I could so imagine Arthur saying that to Merlin! hehe. I showed my other drawing to Colin and he burst out laughing, saying that he loved it and that it was awesome! His laugh...*double faint*. I think I asked what had kept them and that was when Colin saw my t-shirt replying with 'Looks like you knew I'd be late.'. I babbled on about them being on an adventure and they agreed! XDD
I literally buzzed for ages, still in shock that I had not only been speaking to my favourite people but now had a poster signed by them and that they knew for a minute what my name was!
The panel itself was both amazing and not too good for footage! It was so dark and had these red lights that shined on the stage which made taking any video or decent pics was a mission in itself! It was really funny hearing some really thought-up questions, especially from the first girl who asked about Morgana and how she didn't have any grey areas anymore! She was so confident! My favourite moments had to be:
1. When Colin was talking about being prosthetics and pranking Angel while he was in them! He actually did the 'BOO!' in the voice he used and I giggled for ages. I'd hoped he would do that!
2. When I asked a question myself, messing up by saying it was a message BUT being totally worth it to have him saying it was a really good question' and staring at me (or from what he could see of me!) for goodness knows how long!
3. Bradley saying a boy had had his hand up for ages, someone else standing up and then him saying 'Not you!' XD
4. Someone wanting a musical episode set around Sir Leon! They should totally write that!
5. Bradley talking about Masterchef and how everything wasn't so amazing as they had shown because he'd cut his lip on a piece of shell in his food! Poor Bradders! <3
Overall, it was an amazing experience and even though everything aches, I'd do it again in a heartbeat and can't wait to meet up with everyone again, hopefully having more of a chat! :D I'm going to edit this on and off with some videos I got of the day so hope you enjoy! <3
