The news got to her just after she finished winning a war. Ares came to collect her and tell her personally; though it was his son too so no one would expect any less. Especially since he had a fairly good idea of how she'd react.

He brought her to the small town, now mostly a pile of rubble, because she refused to believe him. She didn't want it to be true. Kyril iswas the only innocent part of her left. Everything else about her was the bloodstained warrior that lead armies to victory, the sharp as her sword woman that would rather kill a man than fall in love with him. Kyril was too important to be gone

She doesn't ask to see Ares and Ares doesn't come to see her for two days. During those two days, the only thing that really makes Sirena come close to smiling is the soft murmurs from Amara about how both of them are too stubborn for their own good. It's no secret that both are ignoring the other, even if Sirena is staying at the temple instead of an inn
