I like the tone, and you have a very elegant use of words that I always enjoy reading. The 2nd person POV is well done, but I don't know if it's almost ever actually the most effective way to tell a story- only in very rare odd cases. I think 1st or 3rd would have been better here simply because (at least for me) the unusualness of 2nd person is distracting. *This is not a negative on your writing, which I love*

Second person is what I usually fall back on when first would have been the most appropriate thing. Third, I thought, was too impersonal, but I can't do first very well. Second draws the reader in but allows me to take one step back.

It is unusual, though, and I certainly don't blame anyone if it throws them off.
