[For Grant]

Realistically, I'm aware that Liebgott's had a conversation with Grant that points the way to success, but it's not like I'm on the same page as him. I missed chapters and I'm not able to forget it any more than the others are. So instead of leaving it alone, I grab another handful of books (War of the Worlds, Oliver Twist, and the Picture of ( Read more... )

Chuck sees how it could look that way from how he's laying on the bed as if he just landed there and hasn't moved since, which is the case, but he landed only moments ago. The day up until now has been filled with practice of walking up and down the corridor, alot of frustrated yelling and several smashed glasses (by accident, of course), and any other day Web's face would've been a welcome sight, but today Chuck knows he'll be here for only one thing. He wishes he'd have left it till a better time, but sits up to try his best.

"I've got a hangover from a whole three years of excitement, Web." He growls, the tone isn't particularly offensive but enough stress should show through to let Webster know he should maybe tread a little light.

I arch my brow as I enter the Clinic and set the cookies down on a flat part of the bed, studying him to look for the clues that will give me an indication of how today will be. I lift the smokes to show him they're there, setting them on the bedside table. "I just wanted to know if you had a headache or if you're willing to start into a new book?" I quietly comment.

He watches Web put the cookies and the cigarettes down innocently and sighs, 'cause he realises it'd take more energy to be cranky and unsociable.

"Sorry." He whips out quickly, wiping his face on the shoulder of his t-shirt and then nodding to the seat beside the bed. "Yeah, I'm willing. What've you got?"

I just want to know that things will be the same. Maybe I'm growing as a person and I understand that I don't need direct questions so much as I need an experience that matches all the ones we've had before. Lifting up War of the Worlds, I grin broadly. "Something more your speed. Not that I still don't think Alice in Wonderland is literary classic," I point out. "But uh, war and aliens and gratuitous violence seems something you'd prefer."

I shift in the chair beside the bed. "You need anything else? Water? Food?"
