[[Day 2]]

Aug 02, 2009 18:42

Just as night fell abruptly, day came slowly, gently.  The gentle rays of the sun crept up along the walls of the House, almost as though teasing the dark things inside, taunting them into coming out to play.

But whatever is in the House has no desire to play in sunlight, and as the house fills with it, they recoil.  Beasts flatten into the wall, ( Read more... )

Anita will welcome daylight with tired relief, and can be found leaning against a wall, haggard and with mad paranoia in her eyes.

And she can talk to anyone, no worries.

Her head whips around, but then she relaxes, seeing who he is. Adaon may be odd (to her), but he's not threatening, and the closest thing to an ally she has in this crazy place (and he doesn't snark which is a nice change).

"Hey," she mutters, tiredly. "You survived."

Sookie had just stepped onto her front porch, ready to head over to Merlotte's for an early lunch shift, when she remembered she'd left her keys sitting on the end table in the living room. "Well, duh," she says to herself outloud. "Might need those."

In one quick motion she turns the knob, flings the door open, and crosses the threshhold. As she steps forward toward the couch, her hand outstretched and ready to grab the keys, she realizes the table isn't there. Neither is the sofa, she sees upon further inspection. Ditto for the rest of Gran's old furniture.

She laughs bitterly, thinking this is some kind of cruel joke that Eric or Pam is playing on her. "Okay, y'all," she begins in a thick Southern drawl before realizing it can't be any of the bloodsuckers in her life, seeing as it's currently broad daylight (and she's banished them from her house, anyhow). DuhPanic starts to rise up inside of Sookie as she takes a few uncertain steps further into the room. Nothing sets off any red flags just yet, but there does seem ( ... )

There's a someone around. She's... well, she'd insist she's human, and at this stage in her life, she still is more human than anything else. She was sleeping uneasily on a couch close by, thoroughly passed out from the Most Exhausting Night Ever, and when Sookie starts to tug at the doorknob, her eyelids flutter.

She promised herself she wouldn't sleep. She promised herself not to let her self get caught - not without Jackson Caliban Leandros or Adaon around, anyway, because you never know what this hell hole can crop up. And when she hears the noise, she thinks to herself, Oh shit. Shit shit shit. Not during the day too!

And now she's keeping up the pretense, and listening intently. Her hand moved slowly to the shoulder holster for the gun. She can spare a bullet for a day monster, after all.

Hiii! And be welcome! I don't mind the telepathing as long as it doesn't make talking irrelevant. Anita, however, hates having someone in her head, so with that in mind, I trust your discretion. <3

Sookie senses at least one human presence nearby, and she drops into a crouch, hiding herself behind some large piece of furniture. She reaches out again with her mind and manages to catch the last bit of profanity from Anita's mind. Sookie is a little relieved to pick up on fear (or maybe just anxiety?) in this other person's mind. She just hopes fear won't drive this other woman (it was a female voice she heard in her head) to do anything rash.

Sookie's thinking she's probably going to get herself killed, but she'll rise to her feet slowly anyhow. "Hello?" she calls out a tad shakily. "Can someone help me, please?"

Hiii! And thank you, dear. <3 Yeah, Sookie finds it rude to creep into people's thoughts and she'll refrain from doing so 90% of the time unless she's trying to get a feel for whether she's in danger. She'll occassionally pick up little snippets by accident, but she really tries to guard herself against it.

The voice stirs her, and Anita's hand claps on the gun. She's hesitant to move - but at the same time, she doesn't want to be taken by surprise. She still can't feel any undead around, which is good, but unrepresentative considering last night's experience.

Eventually she moves, to sit on the couch and look around cautiously, but she's not moving from her spot otherwise. She's thinking that this could be another trick of the House's evil spirit (it looks so gratuitous), and you never know what to do with those.

"If you're going to try and eat me, go ahead while I still have fucking meat on my bones," she calls out. "If you're really another stranded person, show your face, and put your hands up."

Sounds good all around, darlin'. 'Sides, I trust you. <3

Caliban is dozing in the main room, slumped in a small heap on a couch. He wasn't exactly intending to fall asleep. It just kind of happened. But it's not very deep at all, and anyone approaching will certainly wake him up in a flash.

He looks closer to his real age, younger, asleep, brow furrowed in a vaguely concerned little frown.

Aaand I'm officially back. Tag in, please, and welcome to our new player! :D

Anita pauses in the doorway, just considers him, sleeping, doesn't move any closer. She lets herself fall to the floor and waits.

Jackson, you shouldn't be taking risks like that, she wants to say. For now, she's just going to keep an eye on him, vaguely concerned.

When she falls to the floor, though, he's awake in a start, eyes snapping open and hand leaping for a gun that isn't there, and quickly alarmed that it isn't there. Then he remembers where he is, finds the knife instead, and calms down.

"What are you doing?" Tetchily. It was a nerve wracking last night, in many ways.

“Making sure you’re sleeping safely,” she replies, calmly. “We need to keep each other safe, if we’re going to survive this fucking ordeal.”

She looks at him, almost worriedly. “You okay, kid?”
