Help me make my mattress not smell!

So I bought this bed off of craig's list because I was desperate with only a thin futon mattress to go by. I dropped by the guy's house and the room absolutely reeked, but I figured it was just the room. Well, whether the mattress was the source or the victim of that smell, it's making everything smell that way. I fucking woke up this morning and

maybe baking soda for a bit then vacuum it up? they prob. make some sort of mattress cover so maybe it'll help block out the smell
