Microsoft and HP cancel slate computing device projects

A day or so after Steve Jobs announced the iPad, Microsoft announced their Courier product, a Windows 7-based (allegedly) device with two touch/pen screens that opened like a book. It struck me as a knee-jerk reaction announcement ("My god, Apple's got something amazing coming out, we have to announce SOMETHING!") and not likely to see the light ( Read more... )

HP and MS were in a bid war to acquire Palm for their Web OS, and I've heard a lot of good things about it. We like all three of those companies (all our desktops at home are HP/MS and were great deals and have had no problems) so I'd love to see them succeed at something new.
