*sigh* Wouldn't it be nice if for a time, people weren't trying to craft and send viruses? Or that people would be smart enough to recognize one when they see it and stop the spread?

The fundamental problem is that a lot of people (too many people, actually) will click on anything. When law enforcement around the world starts treating these crimes more seriously and start dealing out some real prison sentences, then maybe we'll see a reduction. But since law enforcement is constantly underfunded and allocated to "problem du jeur", we won't see a change.

Certainly. Of course, tracing back a worm or virus spreading has to have its own difficulties and problems, which is probably why it's not being actively looked at, even though it's probably causing lots of economic and other damage worldwide.

Yeah, that one stopped being funny when I was about thirteen.

I guess it's a good thing I only use Skype for voice chat--and always reject messages from users I don't know (basically anyone who's not my ex).
