I defiantely think that the Dream Lord being part of the Doctor was interesting. It was kind of the new Valeyard.*
And I also interpreted the small village and family as being something the Doctor wants for his companions after travelling: a nice peaceful life. Which is also something he can never have anymore.
But yeah I do want to rewatch it and just pay more attention to what the Dream Lord says.
* Basically when the 6th Doctor was put on trial the main prosecutor was this guy called the Valeyard, which means "prosecutor of the law" or something like that. Anyway later the Doctor was told that the Valeyard was the distillation of his evil side which might exist somewhere around his 12th and final incarnation. He was created by the Time Lords I think and was told that if he successfully proved the Doctor guilty he would get the rest of the Doctor's lives.
I dunno, I thought the village was a bit crap, actually- middle of nowhere, nothing for Amy to do, and a baby she didn't seem to really want. It seemed to me like he made what he thought Rory wanted, but in the dullest incarnation possible so she'd get turned off.
(I do know what the Valeyard is, actually! Browsing tv tropes is good for random info like that :p)
