Everything You Need to Know About DOGS and the Watch
DOGS and the Watch; a rehaul of the Safety Patrol, headed, on Shibusen's request, by Roy Mustang. These are the guys who are in charge of watching over Death City while everyone else is out on missions, or doing their own thing.
Patrols happen in three shifts: 00:00 - 06:00 hours, 12:00 to 18:00 hours and 18:00 - 00:00 hours. The blackout between 6:00 AM and 12 PM is because just about everyone is awake at that period, and likely attending classes or training.

Jobs you can take with Death City's Office for General Security and the Watch
- Patrolman. The folks who do the patrol rounds in the different districts of Death City, on a daily basis. You don't have to be partnered for this. Your muse can either join up on his or her own, or with a partner already.
- Zone Leader. Experienced pairs of fighters who take command of a district and the patrolmen working at them.
- Clerk. Handles organizing the paperwork, cleans the office and performs other menial tasks over at the office.
- Medic. Healers on call during patrol time from their station at the clinic, or on the field within the district they’ve been assigned to.
- Trainer. People with enough experience in a particular field to be considered specialists in them. Slots for this never run out, so people can apply for the following fields at the moment: basic hand-to-hand combat, advanced hand-to-hand combat, basic melee combat, advanced melee combat, basic firearms handling, advanced firearms handling, explosives, technology, stealth & infiltration, employing non-lethal and lethal force (basically, Killing 101 or How Not to Kill Somebody). One person can, of course, handle more than one field.
- Combat Intelligence Center. The folks who handle communications between the members of the Watch while they're on the field. During a regular day, they stay on the filter and keep tabs on everything that's happening during their shift. During a combat situation, they assist Roy in monitoring the situation from the office.
- Liasons Officer. People who basically put on a biiiiig smile and handle any sticky situations between members of the Watch or the Watch as a whole and any 'regular' citizen. They're the public face of the Watch beyond Roy himself, and the shield that the rest can hide behind when verbal shit's hitting the fan.
- Watchers. People who monitor the happenings in Death City, and/or within the Watch. They're responsible for tipping Roy off about any potential security threats, or simply things that they think the Commander ought to know about.
- Mechanic/Smiths/Technicians. The fixers, be it of motorbikes, tech stuff or weaponry!
If you want more information on any of these roles and an idea of the sort of OOC commitment they'll require,
check this document.
Prerequisites
- For unpartnered individuals. Fighter or anyone with notable combat experience, or capable of holding their own in a fight. Has been attending training sessions on a regular basis (handwaved; must be visible when training logs go up). Willing to work with a 'partner' - the Watch runs on a Buddy System. Plus if you can bike~ ♥
- For partnered pairs. At least one of you (preferably the Meister) has to possess notable combat experience. Has been attending training sessions on a regular basis (handwaved; must be visible when training logs go up). Plus if one or both of you can bike~ ♥
- For partnered pairs interested in becoming Zone Leaders. They must already be members of the Watch with at least a week of in-game experience working for the office, and possess considerable combat experience (either they've done two missions or participated in official Shibusen campaigns ala the Adachi Event, or they've had real battle experience in their original worlds)
- For clerks. Either experienced with some sort of secretarial work, or willing to learn the ropes. Plus if you know military lingo and filing systems!
- For medics. Has to have been a doctor or someone from a similar or equivalent profession in their original work.
- For trainers. Has to be a specialist in the field they're applying for, and capable of teaching individuals without too much emotional trauma to either party. They do NOT have to take on patrol shifts, and are expected to either show up during the daily training sessions or on call for whoever needs it in the Watch.
- For CIC people. The requirements of this are more OOC than IC, as their muses will have to know what's going on during, let's say, a patrol log or an event. Their daily stuff is dutifully handwaved.
- For liasons officers. They need to be charming and good looking, no joke. Also knowledgeable enough with the inner workings of the Watch and/or with the way Roy likes things to be run. Being able to get along with the majority of the Watch's members themselves would be a great bonus.
- Watchers. TECHNICALLY, this job does not exist! If you're interested in doing this, your muse has to approach Roy personally, or vice versa. OOC requirements also follow - you'll need to know, as a player, what your muse knows.
- Mechanics/Technicians/Smiths. Your muse will, of course, have to know what they're DOING. XD
So What Do I Get Out of This?
- The original salary for members of the Safety Patrol was 20 Death Dollars per hour - this has been carried over to patrolmen of the Watch, and anyone working with the Office on a shift basis. Trainers, mechanics/smiths/technicians will also get paid 20 Death Dollars per every hour spent doing their thing.
- On top of the wages, the group may also earn kishin eggs and other benefits depending on the events that happen.
- Licensed to carry weapons (along with the possibility of finding an actual Weapon or Meister among your comrades), and free Despas or motorbikes to people who know how to drive them! Your muse, however, has to let Roy know the kind of weapon he or she wants to carry. It's ultimately Roy's call on who gets to use what. The mods also have a say on what's good and what isn't.
Additional Information
- On Zone Leaders. These guys are basically the overseers of their assigned Zones, and while they are not expected to be on every shift, they must be reachable at all times. Of course, it only follows that they will need to get to know the people under them as well, and make quick decisions on the field in case something happens. Furthermore, in the event that a pair cannot make it on a particular day, Zone Leaders are expected to take their place, or find a temporary replacement.
- For folks whose partners aren't interested in the Watch. This is perfectly fine~ they're under no obligation to join. We do, in fact, have a few in-game examples of folks where one half of the partnership is in the Watch while the other isn't. They are free to patrol with their partners, but they won't be paid. XD
- Filtering. There are no special communicators for the Watch - if you want to log network posts, just put up a Watch filter, and make it as specific as you want (i.e. Filter | Watch Members, Filter | Watch Members on Shift Two, Shopping District).
- Logging and CR. There will be an "official" log for patrol once every month (ideally...), but it is assumed that patrols take place every day. As such, players who have signed their characters up for this activity are free to log patrol stuff outside of the "official" log whenever they want!
If you're ready, just post up your sign-up sheet here, Mustang or one of the members of the core command group will get back to you shortly!
Filing IC Complaints/Security Concerns and Suggesting Patrol Mini-Plots
Drop a line here - make sure complaints are written ICly! If you're suggesting a plot, though, feel free to leave an OOC note here and we can discuss it. Patrol mini-plots will also have to go through the mods once I've read them, but yeah~
Beyond any of that, though, if you need to get a hold of Mustang for any other reason but you DON'T want to do it over the network, leave a message after the beep. 8D
SIGN-UP SHEET
Remember to answer ICly! Video it if you can't work the text~
People can also opt to come in for a personal interview. Just poke me about it OOCly!
