Able to teleport and already well aware of where he needed to end up, Rex had arrived and was already out on one of the courts. Jacket tied around his waist, he dribbled a newly bent up basketball around a bit while he considered the conversation he'd just had over the network. This other guy was kind of a weird one... Most "bad guys" Rex ran into didn't want to shoot hoops against the "good guys" during their off time. Wasn't that still considered fraternizing with the enemy to some degree?

Not that Rex had objections to hanging out with so-called villains if they were open to it. Might help them be, you know, less villain-y in the long run.

Unaware that said so-called villain was on his way to the court, Rex busied himself with trying to spin the basketball on one index finger. He wasn't too bad at it, surprising since when actually playing he could barely make a basket to save his life.

It wasn't long before the scrawny, red eyed boy walked into the gym, looking around for that guy that was going to play basketball with him. Since there was only one guy on the basketball court once Jack found it, Jack suspected this was who he was looking for. Noticing the guy trying to spin the ball, Jack moved as close to him as he could, trying to avoid being noticed.

Then, when he thought he was near enough, he asked in a loud voice, "Hey! Are you that guy I was talking to over the network?"

Rex had his back to the door and he was lost in thought enough that he didn't pick up on someone else entering the court area from the hall. His own fault for not paying attention, really. Something Six would have disapproved of, given he meant for the kid to be aware of his surroundings at all times. That was part of the training.

The sudden voice startled the young EVO and his reaction was immediate. Before the basketball could even hit the floor after being dropped, Rex swung around and built a Smackhand out of his right arm, the giant metal fist stopping just a few inches shy of plowing into the other teen.

Fortunately, Rex did recognize who it was he was aiming for, eyebrows arching high as his attack came to a screeching halt. "Whoa. Dude, don't sneak up on me like that! I could have just punched your jaw clean off!"

Jack had been expecting Rex to be startled. Maybe jump and yelp. Maybe even swing at him. He wasn't expecting his hand to turn into a giant metal hand and come right at him. Jack screamed and cringed away, and for a moment he wondered if he was about to be pulverized. Fortunately, Rex stopped before anything too disastrous happened. Jack let out a terrified squeak and, staring at the hand, reached out and poked it, as if testing to see if it was real.
