Maybe it was the movement that attracted her attention. Maybe it was the sparkle of metal in sunlight. Maybe it was both, tapping into the spirit behind the mobiles than hang over baby cradles and the bits of glass that Anomie has hung among so many of the city’s trees ( ... )

Mitham liked to get out. He liked to walk the streets when no one else was around. In the early hours of the morning, when it was still dark out, Mitham found himself in the Northern Plaza, and was amazed by the sight. It was breathtaking and mesmerizing. He stood for a long time, just examining each wind sculpture for a time, reading the inscription on the plates.

Finally he moved on, just walking. In the thick mist he thought he saw a figure walking. It was big, so he guessed a Cybertronian. A part of him just wanted to go unnoticed, to finish his walk and head back, but curiosity won out and he called to the figure he couldn't quite make out in the misty darkness. "Hello?"

The misty figure jumped a bit and shifted, turning. Likely, the boy would be able to guess who it was as he got closer: the bow-legged stance, the broad shoulders, the angled, upward protrusions like vestigial wings. And if those weren't enough, there were the signature flashes of light around the head to accompany the voice.

"Hello? Who's there?"

Mitham grinned and trotted closer. "Good morning, Wheeljack." He wondered what his friend was doing out, but considering his early morning escapades finding someone else up early didn't necessarily surprise him.

"What brings you out so early?" He stopped close enough that he and the Autobot could clearly see each other, and he offered up a wave and a smile.

Curious as ever, it didn't take Skyfire long to go and take a look at the new additions to the city's landscape.

He hadn't been there a year earlier, when Nautilus had faced the Lady of Glass. All he knew about it were stories. He hadn't dared to ask much, to pry too much - it was clear that it was still a very sensitive subject for everyone. It's importance wasn't lost on him, however.

The inscriptions hit close to home for him, anyway, if for entirely different reasons. Even back in his own world, he had been grateful for having another chance. Nautilus had given him even more than that. He was free here. He had the opportunity to simply live, without struggling to fit in, without wondering if he was just a burden on everyone else ( ... )
