It had taken Altaïr quite some time to appreciate exactly how much work was required in planning the assassination of his targets. Before his demotion, that work had been done for him; he simply needed to carry it out. But he'd been considerably humbled since then, and now took his time in devising the perfect moment to strike.
It was during this planning stage, as he sat on a bench eavesdropping, that he heard of the commotion. A group of guards harassing a citizen was nothing new. But that this citizen was fighting back was something else entirely.
The hooded man rose from his bench, checked quickly for guards, then scrambled up the side of a building and began racing towards the site of the fight.
As he drew closer and closer, he heard more details from the shouts of people below. But surely there was some mistake. A man with a white hood wielding a broomBut when he stopped above the fight and looked over the edge, that's exactly what he saw.
