Ever since meeting with Chris on the train, finding out that zombies didn't just kill but could make people into one of them, he could not get Crawford off his mind. He found himself back in the East once more ( ... )

That was a question Mitham would soon have answered. It was a surprisingly desolate section of the city. Most of the zombies were either rotting piles on the ground or had moved on to other areas. But not this one. He emerged from the shadows of one of the taller buildings, catching the sight and sound of something living. Crawford had never been graceful, but the thing he'd become was even less so. And he advanced toward the kid.

It was hard to see the patches that had once adorned the hooded sweatshirt, now marred and stained with blood where it wasn't torn to shreds. His eyes had turned milky white and his skin was taking on a greenish pallor where it wasn't torn or disfigured.

Mitham stopped cold. A moment of irrational relief at seeing the familiar figure nearly had him running to the man turned zombie. Thankfully, before his feet could move him forward his brain registered other details that made it all too clear what was going on.

"N-no...No...nonono..." Fighting tears he started to stumble back, terrified, not at facing a zombie, but at facing this zombie. "NO!"

The sound of Mitham's voice seemed only to encourage the zombie that was once Crawford. It picked up speed, advancing toward Mitham ever quicker. It's mouth gaped open, drooling a mix of blood and other things far more vile.
