Searching Helix was the last step to disprove the theory Batman knew Samus had been forming- a theory he was inclined to support, and equally hoping to disprove. He did not want to delve into what Legato and Balthazar's presence in the Labyrinth would mean for Nautilus.
Detaching himself from his perch near the gate to Helix, Batman watched Samus drumming her fingers on her canon. She was clearly trying to keep herself occupied, and filed the mannerism away in his memory. She seemed impatient to get moving, and the Dark Knight couldn't deny that he was of a similar mentality.
He moved next to Samus, seeming to materialize from the shadows (a trick he had perfected years ago). Batman continued toward the gate with only a nod for a greeting.
"Shall we?" he asked, not bothering to pause for an answer. He knew she was as eager to go as he. It was time to get moving.
There was no warning, no sound that came before the words of someone suddenly close to her. She swung her armcannon at Batman, only lowering it when she was sure of who it was. Was she on edge? Maybe, another encounter with Legato and Balthazar would be bad news bears, but she had never really been snuck up on before either. And she had sworn she set her visor to pick up movement ...
"Yes," she said simply, moving alongside her partner. A weird word, one she didn't like
Batman was accustomed to similar reactions to his presence, but not from Samus. She startled more easily than she should have, and her reflexes were more dangerous. He filed another mental note. He'd have to make sure she didn't get trigger happy if they did find Legato and Balthazar. In fact, he would take the precautions now.
He stopped in mid-step. She couldn't search properly if someone she was expecting could affect her like that. "We're not going until you compose yourself." He would make Samus sit down where she stood and meditate if need be.
Samus frowned, they didn't have time for this. What they needed was to keep going, not have a pow wow. She was fine. Maybe. She hadn't been that jumpy in a while, she would admit. But he had come out of nowhere, and that should be enough to warrant a gun to the face. You don't just sneak up on someone with an armcannon.
"You snuck up on me," she said simply. "It was a logical reaction."
