She could see it now, and the hairs on the back of her neck rose straight. This was wrong, what she was looking at was somehow wrong. And although everything in her mind told her to turn back, she refused. She never listened to that instinct before and she wouldn't start now. She stopped next to Aya and stared.
"Hello," she said softly, her voice just barely registering the fear in her. She didn't expect a response, Aya looked too focused. Taking a shuddering breath Martha closed her eyes and began sending her will to the heart.

Then he had discovered the cracked glass: the hole of pure darkness yawning up at him, giving the distinct sensation of being fully prepared to swallow him up.
Years of strict training and the memories of his alternate (a warrior of Cosmos, who had vanquished Chaos) aided him in keeping his composure. He informed the girl he was speaking to (Orihime, wasn't it?) of what was going on, then informed the network at large. After that, all there was left to do was approach the cracked Heart and begin Bending ( ... )

What do I do now?
That was the question eating at him, among a few others (is this the truth or something along those lines still being the most prominent second.) His entire life had been based around following a Mother who was building a future for her family. As it turned out, his life had actually been based on serving a Mother's selfish whims. It was funny how, once that idea had lodged itself in his head, it was much easier for him to remember the times he'd thought she'd been unfair or made strange decisions. They weren't strange when he considered she'd been doing it all for herself ( ... )

Axel knew very well that the only reason he'd been able to continue functioning was because he wasn't able to feel fear.
Still, a lack of fear didn't mean that he wanted to go near it. After all, he still had a sense of self-preservation. This was his 'existence'; he'd live and die on his own terms.
... But if nothing was done, then ... would he even be able to do that?
And as much as he didn't want to admit it (such a weakness was easily exploited), it wasn't just him. Roxas wasn't here, but ... Sora was. Sora, and the few others that he actually felt some genuine attachment to. Actually felt something for. Could he really risk them experiencing what he'd gone through, just because he refused to go and do something ( ... )

Especially if Axel's reaction was any indication.
"You holding up all right?" Tony asked him, eyes on the darkness as he joined in the effort.

Then Tony's vice cut through the fog, and Axel found himself shaking worse than ever. He heard some noise, some aborted attempt at speech, only to realize it had come from his own throat.
No. He had to keep it together. He could curl up and vomit Darkness later if he wanted to: right now, he had to get that place away from him and his.
"Need to close it up," he answered, voice low but steady. A sharp contrast to his trembling body: memories of the cold were hard to stave

"We'll get it closed up," he said, and focused on the task.

Azula approached it on her guard. Her enemy tugged at and toyed with her mind, but she stared it down; she would conquer it in time. Each passing day brought her that much closer, as she gathered allies and information to herself. That broken glass promised it.
Close now, she stood, and her body revolted at its proximity to the chaos and the unknown, but she held her ground.
I will contain you, she thought. Then, I'll destroy you.
Azula turned her back to it and joined the rest of the people to Bend the glass whole.
