[Hopefully this won't give the wrong impression. Don't get me wrong -- I'm not any different, except on who I pick to be my prey. That's all there is to it. Still, he did say normal people were accepted, and I've always been good at being a wolf in sheep's clothing, so let's check the wolf's den.]

There's an energetic knock at the front door. Quite frankly, the decor seemed a bit over the top, but the manor's size was indeed impressive. Leslie sure seemed to enjoy the location.

No wonder people were wary of the Western District; full of criminals and killers and beasts.

[So why did I wake up in the East?]

In hand, he carries sugar cookies.

[I was tempted to make them in the shape of kitchen knives, but that'd give the wrong impression. ...Or the right one, it's kind of hard to tell here.]

At the knock, Leslie is there in a near instant; half out of politeness and half to make sure he intercepts the visitors before PH wanders in to see what's what. Nothing kills a killer party faster than a killer on the loose.

"Heyyy, Dexter." the other man grinned back, pushing the door open wide. "You didn't have to come. Are those cookies? Nice. C'mon in."

"Yeah, I know. Figured you might need the snacks or something."

[And it's not like I don't belong.]

Dexter shrugs and lets himself in, smiling easily in return to the other man. "Probably won't stay long. I mean, hanging out in a room full of killers seems kind of uninviting, if you know what I mean."

Movie Night Thread plantsnturtles April 17 2010, 15:34:02 UTC
About midway through the night, after everyone familiarized themselves with each other and conversations were in full swing, Leslie stuck two fingers in his mouth and whistled sharply.

"Hey! Hey, everyone, thanks for coming. You guys can stay here, talk and stuff, but I'm going to go put on a movie in the other room if anyone wants to go watch. All right, cool."

With the minor announcement, he turned and went into the room off from the main area, leaving the door open behind him.

Checking to see if the tape was still in the VCR (it was), Leslie dimmed the lights, turned on the TV, and pressed play.

The Little Mermaid started playing.

It was nearing the end now, Ariel taking her choice between humanity or the people and world she knows. Love or family? A silly choice, one that the Riddler would never find himself facing. He hated his family and felt no love for anyone. A stupid ending. So why was a well of emotions bubbling beneath his surface? Why the hell was he so emotionally invested? It was Disney. Had to be. Subliminal messaging to crack the heart of the most dastardly intellect. Right. That was it.

The Riddler crossed his arms to his chest, perhaps self-defense to seem more like a man. As well he stared at the screen. And stared. Focusing on keeping his eyes open and not blinking. Was that a sniff? Nope, just a trick of the body.

Azula had never seen a TV. Or animation. These moving, speaking paintings were interesting because they were new, but the singing--why were they singing? Most plays didn't have singing. She never cared for attending plays, anyway.

Near the end she covered her mouth and yawned. The story was boring. Why didn't the sea witch just gather her victims to her, put them under a spell, and invade the sea kingdom? There was no point in this deal with the mermaid, and what if she and the prince kissed on land, far away where her creatures couldn't stop them? The sea witch obviously hadn't thought out this plan very well.

And this father was too lenient with his daughter. Her father would never allow this behavior--let alone leave her country and world behind. It was a traitorous action, but she supposed gaining power and connections in the human world through marriage could have it uses.

Azula only had stepped in for this "movie" because standing alone in the party room had been unfavorable.

After she had finished mingling awhile and finding other things to occupy herself, Fox found a seat in the movie watching room, taking over a comfy looking chair and setting a large bowl of popcorn on the center of her lap. Her legs were off the floor and folded in front of her as she watched the movie, reaching into the bowl now and again and picking up a few kernels with her fingers.

[munchmunchmunch]

Was that guy really supposed to represent a normal girl's view of prince charming? If all that time he couldn't figure out the mermaid was the same girl, she wondered just how bright Eric could be. On top of that, Ariel obviously had the hots for him and he seemed a little too dense to realize it. Fox could only conclude that Ariel's taste in men was questionable. That and she had personally been deprived of a normal little girl's childhood if she couldn't just enjoy the damn movie.
