Hello, Nautilus. Look at your city.

Now look at mine. [Video comes on to show a bird's-eye-view- or in this case, biomech's-scanner-view- of Helix, looking grand, warm, beautiful and peaceful; towering buildings, brass and copper colours, gardens in glass domes, images of the sun.] Now back to yours. Now back to mine. [Flip back to the view of ( Read more... )

So what happens when all the murderers move to Helix and kill everyone there?

Touche. I was thinking the same thing. so far there's been no evidence of any of the murders having involved Bending, so its absence in the city is hardly a deciding factor.

[She nods.] Anyone who wants to kill is going to do it, with or without bending.

Like I said: Near. Omnipotent. War machine. One with a far lesser tolerance for chaos than your present "governor."

I kind of want to see how the people here manage to work their problems out for themselves, rather than just moving to a new city.

You're going to be disappointed. I've been here, oh, I'd say about six months now, and trust me, it just keeps coming.

They've been killing each other off for six months?

Oh no, see, now that would be too easy. Just having one consistent problem isn't random and absurd enough for dear old Nautilus. No, the key to the Nautilus Experience is variety. Inexplicable invasions of shadow creatures, inexplicable invasions of moon creatures, inexplicable musicals, wishes granted gone horribly wrong, and yes, besides that there has been a more or less steady stream of pointless violence going around since I got here.

All right, I can't deny that. You're talking about what Bending offers, right?

It's true that according to the hype, we're all here to Bend ourselves into the next generation of Deva. Which, frankly, is a prospect that makes me despair for the future of the universe, but I digress. Is it really necessary to live in Nautilus, with all its various dangers and drawbacks, just to hone that skill? Why not instead dwell in Helix, and just pop over to Nautilus when necessary for use as a training ground?

No Bending?!

That would be so boring.

...I think you might want to re-evaluate your priorities there, kid. Maybe replace 'entertainment' with 'not getting stabbed' at the top of the list.

Oh, I won't get stabbed! I'll be safe living with Starscream.

[Chuckling] With Starscream, huh. Well, okay then.

It seems a little.. dull.

Maybe when I retire.

...right. Well then, maybe that'll be sooner rather than later.

Maybe. You never know.

I wouldn't mind a tour, though.

What a nice coincidence. I wouldn't mind giving one.
