"HUMANS ARE WEAK. THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO KNOW. THEY ARE NOT WORTH TIME," the Badb Catha replied very matter-of-factly to Evie's question. However, it stared and tilted its head to the side for a moment. It was as if it was giving them some sort of special consideration. Locrine was honestly ready for it to attack at any moment, but that attack never came. It simply did not want to get up. Finally, it spoke again. "MOVE US AND WE WILL LEAVE."
That was a challenge. Wasn't it? A test of strength! Time to be brave. He could do this. Biting his lip, he stepped close to the nearest bird and pushed. It, of course, never budged. It flapped a wing to push him away and he stumbled back. He was only lucky that he didn't fall. Who was he kidding? He was used to using his brain, not... anything else. He let out a heavy sigh. "Of course!" He replied immediately, doing his best to return the smile. He felt a bit like he was lying, and spent a moment calculating the statistical probability of another demon attack in one night. It wasn't very likely... At least, that wasn't the sort of thing they had experienced yet. It was highly doubtful they would. Either way, he planned to avoid being more of a bother than he already had been.
"If you're sure, you'll be fine on your own." For an instant, Evie looked like she might debate the issue further but changed her mind, posture relaxing visibly. Locrine clearly knew way more about these things than she did, anyway. Besides, she had a roommate she had to have a long talk with.
That dreamy, starry-eyed look had yet to dissipate. If anything, it just seemed to be getting more pronounced. If possible, Evie's smile grew even more radiant.
"All right, Mr. Whittle. Take care and I'll see you tomorrow!" She headed for the door, pausing briefly to give the librarian one last wave before finally leaving.
