Lynne was dozing in the lounge when her phone buzzed. She jolted, smacked her knee against the table, and swore. She flipped her phone open to see a text from a friend asking if she was still up and that said friend was bored. Lynne sighed, shaking her head, but when she noticed the time, her eyes widened.

Oh, crap, when did it get so late? She'd been reading her book but she'd been tired and it'd been surprisingly quiet so she'd closed her eyes for a bit, just to relax. She hadn't expected to nod off, or at least that long. Stretching her arms, she let out a light yawn and walked a bit to get the circulation going. However, when she passed the front window, she stopped. She tilted her head slightly. Weird, was there supposed to be construction or something outside? She couldn't see exactly what was out there, not in the dark, but she didn't remember seeing anything earlier ( ... )

Lawrence had been alternating between reading and looking out the window since curfew had passed. He hadn't seen anything interesting for about an hour, and his eyes were starting to blur from focusing too hard. He was finally about to give up for the night and go to bed when he saw something that caught his interest...

It was Lynne. He saw her standing outside in front of... something. What was that? Whatever it was, it was huge... He checked his watch and made sure that the time was right. It was past midnight! This was definitely the strange behavior Oscar had spoken of. With a smile, he closed his book. Making sure to creep across the floor so as not to awaken Ezra, he quietly opened the door and slipped outside, making sure to bring it to a just as quiet close. Then, he adjusted his pin and ran downstairs.

Poor Lawrence wouldn't slip by so easily. Unbeknownst to his room mate, Ezra had been playing cellphone games under the covers with the sound off in hopes that the mildly boring task would lull him to sleep. Things had been kind of tense when the two were in the room at the same time, ever since that argument. It wasn't really a good mood to end the day in, and so to avoid any other flare ups, Ezra'd retreated as far as he could without actually leaving the room to give the other his space ( ... )

Lawrence wandered down the stairs slowly, but with purpose. He tried as much as he could not to make a sound that could alert any unwanted attention, but at the rate he was going he'd definitely miss Lynne and whatever she'd gotten involved in. He started skipping steps, being very careful of not falling down the stairs. That certainly wouldn't go over well for him. He couldn't help but feel strange as he went down the stairs to the first floor... like he was being followed. But who would follow him? He was certain Ezra was asleep; there's no way he would make such a simple error. He was also positive Ezra wouldn't want anything more to do with him with the way things had been going between the two as of late ( ... )

It... spoke!? Lawrence looked at the troll in what could only be a mixture of confusion, horror and intrigue. It was already not possible for him to say that it was fake, but now... he didn't know what to believe. First he was being crushed, then a flaming bird saved him, and now a troll was talking to him? Everything was happening so quickly that his head was spinning.

"Are you addressing me?" Lawrence asked with a clearly indignant tone, while straightening out his (now RUINED) cravat.

Lynne was taken aback for a second when she heard the Troll's...interesting style of speech until she heard Lawrence speak and decided now would be a good time to intervene before he went and pissed off the Troll too.

Lynne spoke quickly with more calm than she felt. "We're sorry we ended up hurting you. We had actually just wanted to talk to you but you weren't waking up and then you accidentally grabbed him," she nodded slightly to Lawrence (and prayed he wouldn't choose now to go off) before continuing, self-conscious about how lame it sounded. "And things...just got out of hand. It really was an accident."

Despite their apologies, the Troll wasn't at all convinced. He sat up on the ground, looking them over fearfully. "Accidently grabbed him..? I was sleeping here, minding my own business. How could this happen by accident, dude?"

He acknowledged her explanation, of course. But it didn't seem right. "Attacks are not accidents, whether it be for a good purpose or not. It is very rude to wake a sleeping Troll!"

"Well, you're a hugger," Ezra shot back, the barest hint of amusement in his otherwise serious tone and expression. He nodded towards Lawrence, taking in his roommate's insulted expression before deciding to leave it at that and not ruffle any more feathers. "You could have hurt him and we didn't want to take that risk. Honestly, we just came to talk. So if you're not looking for a fight either..."

Anthony rushing forward to help Lawrence had been all it took to get him back in Ezra's good books, and now he turned to the blond for assistance hesitantly. Despite their intentions, he couldn't help but feel safer having an edge against the troll. Ezra also didn't know if this demon was proud like the others and their attempt at good will would just come across as an insult, but it was worth a try. "Anthony. Maybe you could heal... uh, him?" He glanced at Lynne before turning his gaze back to the skeptical Troll, hoping he looked sincere enough. "That way we can start again on the right foot."
