I'm curious, how did you get to have so many different households?

I just switch between them? I go to edit town and there's a button on the lower left to change households. If you have story progression on though, be careful lol I've had my sims move (not just to another house but OUT OF TOWN. IT PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH) and quit/get new jobs on me while I wasn't watching them
