Daniel was used to seeing Jack at least in passing every day. They usually saw each other in the morning, one of them heading into a shower, or at lunch, or just out wandering. So when Daniel hadn't seen Jack for two days, especially because of Christmas, Daniel went to him, bringing Jack's Christmas present along with him.
It was getting dark, so Daniel knocked softly, in case one of them was sleeping, or something.
"Jack? Are you home?"
