LJ Idol Season 9, Week 22: Sweep the Leg

Sep 19, 2014 15:53

“Please take a seat outside of courtroom 1B. The commissioner will be with you shortly,” the woman behind the sleek, black desk says, offering you a brief smile while slipping your civil notice back into your hands. You nod, give her a shaky smile in return, and turn on your heel.

Was it that business-like tone that really made those sentences stick? Or was it the subtle, nonchalant aggression under the words?

Either way, you illustrate how a simple, spoken or written expression can dig into your skin. I know that feeling, but it's very well articulated here.

I think the latter. I know when Evelyn is pissed, and I can tell she can't believe I "fucking filed for contempt," (her words, I imagine, to a choice few friends of hers) when she has, in fact, been paying me when she could just not be paying me at all. I filed because receiving each payment, late, has been like pulling teeth. And I need that money on time, every month.

Thank you. :) I hadn't realized how much these words had gotten to me until Friday. Ugh.

Interpersonal relations are so complicated. No person is entirely guilty or free of guilt. Decisions like this are never easy.

I definitely felt the weight of the decision in this entry, and I unfortunately still have a few people that could get inside my head with even less than six sentences.

Yeah, they aren't. And I didn't make it lightly and of course it's like WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO GET INSIDE MY HEAD GRAH.

She probably could have done it in less, too. That's what scares me the most. Oh, and the judge ruling in her favor and me looking like an asshole for it.

Yeah, we'll see how things roll out on Monday. Because that's when our contempt hearing was rescheduled for. Sigh.

I am also hoping that she, like me, does not have the funds for a lawyer else I might really be screwed.

A friend of mine is fond of quoting, "Don't let people live in your head rent free."

Nicely done.

It may have been a hard decision, but I think you made the right one. It's not easy, dealing with other humans, is it?

Well done on the piece.

Thanks. <3 It most certainly isn't, sigh. Especially one I thought I knew well and obviously didn't.

Thanks. :)
