LJ Idol Season 9, Week 13: Open Fricken Topic

Jun 28, 2014 07:39

James sat down on the curb in front of his apartment complex, curling his arms over his knees and burying his face in the crook of his elbow. His shoulders shook, though no tears slipped down his cheeks. Instead, he forced himself to breathe in deeply. One breath. Two breaths. Three.

The knot in his stomach began to unravel, the lump in his throat dissolving. )

Wow! That's very good! What a subject to tackle. It's rarely done, and you do it so well. I will read more, please.

Thank you. :) You might be making me blush, a little.

The fact that it's so rarely done is why I want to tackle it correctly. There's "more," but this version of the story (it's getting extended) has a lot of changes coming to it. I might explore a bit more of it for Idol. :)

These characters have been struggling for a voice lately. So maybe they'll be back, soon. :)

My gut says no, he doesn't. Not right away, though it might be borderline too late once he does. (Something tells me Kenji disappeared because he's dealing with his own problems and can't deal with anything else -- gut instinct says drugs, which. D:)

Originally Kenji didn't have many of his own issues/his own personal struggles -- but when I was working on this piece and heading towards the end, my heart sank. Originally I started this for "If you've come here to help me, you're wasting our time," and I had PLANNED on Kenji showing up at the end.

Except when I picked it back up and finished it, I realized he doesn't. And well, I am a discovery writer, so of course I got a flash of an image of Kenji otherwise indisposed himself, dealing with his own issues.... But yeah.

I think he's trying to get help for himself and the timing was just reaaaaally bad for James. Poor bbs. =/

Thanks. :) It's nice to know people are looking forward to more James's story. Poor guy's been woefully neglected in my head. <3

Wonder where the inspiration for this came from. :( especially its being so well written. I also am rooting for Kenji to answer in a positive manner. Lovessss

Mark is much more extreme than anything I've personally experienced, but a lot of Mark's verbal abuse towards James is heavily inspired by Ev. I think Mark is my way of answering, "What would happen if it got worse?" Mark has existed for years, and I wasn't sure where he came from until recently.

But I haven't personally experienced abuse like this, fortunately.

Well written. I could really feel the characters pain.
