Short Story -- No News

I asked talonkarrde88 for a prompt a couple of weeks back. He gave me the prompt, "the last gas station," in response, and of course, I sat on it for a while. My first couple of attempts to fill it were complete shit. This, though? I like. I like it a lot. Buuuut... I have the feeling I might have created yet another universe to expand and fill in, later. Neat!

I like it, and the unexpected use of the prompt. It works great as a short story, whether or not you expand it.

Thank you. :) I dunno if I will expand it, but if I do, it'll be a while.

This was an interesting use of the prompt. :) The "no news" thing made the story even freakier.

Also, (potential) universes just have a way of popping into existence, don't they?

Thank you. :)

The no news thing was so totally unexpected, even for me. Because I wrote this entirely on the fly.

Yes they fricken do. I need to stop.

Thank you. :) It's something I totally forgot about, but I was trudging through my "original fiction" tag and found it.

Why do you need to stop? Sparse details about the monster, odd contradictions in the function of the world (there is no news), and an eerie calm make this something I could easily sink my teeth into.

xD

I write things to write things and then I forget the exist and well...

I'll probably expand this one day. But I have so many other things clamoring around in my head that this will probably be shelved for the time being. :)

(But it'll one day get the attention it deserves, I think.)

Thanks for stopping by. <3
