The Tomorrow Trilogy - Gray Morning: Chapter ?

This originally started out as a "What if Jazz didn't act on impulse and push Savin out of the way of Mitchel's bullet?" idea. It erm... then sparked this whole other idea with a different decision being made earlier on in the book than this -- and now it might be canon. Thoughts more than welcome.Jazz glanced around the empty execution room, his ( Read more... )

Because I'm mean and really can't stop myself.

Also, because I wanted Mitchel's bastardlyness to have a huge fucking impact/reveal. Always have.

This is amaze. I want this to be your canon, ha. But then I've always been a sadistic bastard. I know you mentioned wondering if you had the right POV, but I like it being from Jazz's. You can always have a Savin POV after to examine his feels on the matter.

I thiiiiiink I'm hoping Savin survives. Sadistic, right? Plus, we have to leave room for all the SavMitch repentance/relationship fic, right?

I think it is canon, dude. Just so much of it seems to fit better with what I want to do with Mitchel's character -- not to mention the direction Jazz and Savin's separation and all that took, too. It fits better with it all. And I think Jazz's POV is the best for this -- he always wants the POV when his death is involved.

I think Savin DOES survive. I'm just not entirely sure how. Maybe the gun jams or Mitchel's out of bullets. I'm not sure yet. But I know Savin needs surgery and that he's lost a lot of blood. And yes, we need room for those fics. ;)

I already left you a comment in wv_library, but I'm having more feels on this. I did like the "takes the bullet for him" thing, even if this way has more impact. It's almost like taking the bullet made the scene...sweeter, somehow? I know that probably sounds weird as getting shot is not remotely sweet, but sacrificing yourself (however impulsively) is a loving act of sorts, versus this one where Jazz doesn't even get to finish his sentence/confession before he's shot. Plus it's meaner that Mitchel reveals everything and just straight-up purposefully shoots him.

I liked it, too, and I liked the sweetness of the gesture (because it IS sweet -- in a bittersweet sense). But this version of events just... came to me when I thought of "What if Mitchel has Jazz wrapped around his little finger all through book 3?" and -- yeah, I think this version is canon.

I'm a little heart-broken that Mitchel purposely waited for Jazz to start confessing he still loved Savin -- but I think his motivation there was, "Even after all the love/care I've shown YOU, you don't still love ME." It's still my headcanon that Mitchel's "faked" feelings for Jazz were real and always were.
