[ It is only minutes before Erik arrives at the wagon. He had not wandered far in his search of supplies, and he takes Charles' urgency to heart and walks briskly as he returns to the other man's side. Concern quickly overcomes him as he sets his eyes on Charles' expression.

He easily climbs into the wagon and makes his way to Charles' side, moving to the corner so that they have some privacy as he places a hand on his companion's shoulder. ]

What happened?

[ Charles is placated immediately by Erik's presence. He's breathing deeply, and it is quite obvious that he had spent at least a few minutes crying -- though he would prefer it did not. Charles looks up at Erik as he touches his shoulder and he smiles, albeit shortly, and he tilts his head to kiss Erik's fingers.

A surprising gesture, as he's not nearly been so inclined to show such affections in any way to Erik. Erik knows his feelings; he does not need to share them so often. Not, ah, not until this moment. ]

Let me -- ah, just, mm, have you here for a moment, if that is all right.

[ Erik's expression softens. He finds himself wrapping his arms around Charles, pulling the other man close to his chest and rubbing at his back as the sudden and surprising need to comfort Charles overcomes him. ]

Of course. [ It comes out as almost a whisper. ]

[ Charles is surprised enough by his sudden closeness to Erik's chest. He has spent nights this close to Erik before and he knows it's silly to be surprised. Though, if he were honest, he had never been this upset before; and certainly not in Erik's presence. He sighed quietly and he closed his eyes. His shoulders shook, if only for a brief moment.

He felt so foolish, and he hoped it did not show. He quietly opened his mouth to speak, to preface his conversation piece that had been so very important. ]

I have--I have spoken to Raven. She is not from the same.. point. In our timeline, as it were.

[ Erik continues to hold Charles close as he listens to the other man speak. He feels anxiety in his chest at Charles' words, but he remains composed. ]
