Historically speaking, Jesus was born a Jew. Would he actually be considered xtian, or was that simply a result of him?
People don't like to be criticized for their beliefs, right? So if the opinion of the author was that these people (myself included, while I'm not xtian) are simply fools for supporting institutionalized religion, then I could see why people would be upset. If the point was that some institutions (Jehovahs, Mormons and Scientologists come to mind) are far more than a mechanism to fulfill a spiritual need, then I can easily agree with that point.
BTW, your Wordpress has a typo .. you said " I have to wonder if they people who hate...". I do it all the time. That, and accidentally typing "whe" for "we".
