Homplot Wake Up Post

Normally, Cassie wasn't one to spend a lot of time in bed. But lately, or really the last two days, it had taken everything she had to get out of bed in the morning. Someone people might have been excited to find out the king of the Greek gods was their father but for Cassie, it just made her miserable. The powers she'd felt she'd earned for her ( Read more... )

Someone coming into the room wasn't enough to get her attention alone, but Cassie's head snaps around when Luke lowers his sword. She's on her feet in an instant, or more, she'd vertical in the air now as if she was standing but her feet were still a few inches off the ground. "What are you doing here?"

She knew people got dragged along on these trips but he had no business being here.

"Yes and you shouldn't be here!" Cassie said, flying closer and cracking her knuckles.

Of course, then it occurred to her that she had questions from their last encounter that Luke couldn't answer...but the person who could was now within her reach.

But first she gave Luke a hard look and said in her Wonder Girl persona, "You are going to stay here. Don't leave or one of us will find you. And you better hope it's not me."

Once Sam had calmed down and learned what had happened, he was only slightly less freaked out than when he had no clue what was going on. Apparently Cassie had disappeared to take care of who knows what so Sam was pretty much on his own for the moment.

First things first, Sam had checked to see if he or his family existed at all in this reality. It hadn't taken him very long to find out that they didn't. After that he had raided the fridge for all the things he couldn't get on the island and then set out to find where the video games were. Cassie had mentioned them enough times that he knew they had to be around.

With a soda in one hand an a stash of beef jerky, Doritos, and red vines in the other he poked his head in one of the rooms and smiled when he realized it was the right one. Someone was already in there, some guy with a sword, Sam thought he had seen him around the island before, playing.

"Hey, you mind if I jump in on this?"

Sam sat down next to the other guy and set his stash of snacks on the floor. This was what he should be doing right now, back in his world. He should be crashing on someone's dorm couch playing video games and eating crap food. Instead he was in another universe, crashing on a couch in a superheroes headquarters worrying about Cassie and when she was going to be back.

"Yeah, I am," he said, picking up a controller. "Sam Witwicky. I've been there for just over a month."

Sam had been busy studying the last few days. He wasn't taking proper classes since he'd come at such an odd time, but that didn't mean he wanted to stop learning. He must have fallen asleep while studying, because he was still in his clothes. Actually, he was in his favorite clothes that he had on the island, which he didn't remember wearing that day.

Blinking his eyes, Sam wiped a way a bit of drool that had gathered at his mouth and looked around. This was not his beautiful hut. This was probably not his beautiful island. This was a much more modern room with an admittedly far more comfortable bed. Unfortunately, it wasn't his bed back home, either. It was some third bed that he'd never been in before.

"No, no, no, NO! You have got to be kidding me!" Sam shouted. He could not be transported somewhere else. This wasn't fair at all, there should be a two world transport limit or something. If you get sent to a dimension not your own, you should only be allowed to be sent back home.

It was late in the afternoon, more like evening, when Cassie finally returned to Young Justice headquarters. She'd had a long talk with her mother about her newly discovered father and while she didn't feel completely better about the situation, at least she'd gotten an explanation. And being curled up on the couch for an hour straight hugging her mother hadn't hurt either.

But she'd finally pulled herself away because she knew that if she didn't do it herself, it would be so much harder when she was pulled back to the island in a day or so. Her mother had given her a strange look when Cassie had said goodbye but she'd flown off before any questions were asked.

After checking in with Cissie, Bart and Kon, and making sure Luke was causing any trouble, Cassie went looking for Sam, who Cissie had been all to happy to tell her was here. She felt a little bad for dragging him into this but part of her was glad she'd get to show him her home. "Sam?" She called, not even bothering to change out of her uniform.

After playing video games with Luke, who seemed to be persona non grata for some reason Sam couldn't fathom, he went to find the library. Specifically, he went to find history books. He wanted to learn as much as possible about Cassie's world, both because it would help him know more about Cassie in general and also because he had no idea how long he was going to be here ( ... )

Leaving her mom had put her in a melancholy mood but Sam jumping to his feet so eagerly to see her brought a small smile to her face. It surprised her how really glad she was to see him at this moment.

"Hi. Yeah, I'm here. I'm really sorry about leaving like I did this morning..." She paused a moment to swallow down her emotions. "I had something I needed to do."

The covers were entirely too warm but Cissie knew she really ought to get up. She stretched her arms and started as she hit something warm. She hadn't remembered falling asleep with one of the dogs, though of course that didn't mean anything. Probably one of them had jumped in with her and she'd been dead asleep not to realize.

She started to pet whichever one it was then froze. That was not hair she was petting, it was muscle. She squeaked in alarm and hurriedly sat up, taking most of the sheets with her.

She was in Bart's room. In Young Justice Headquarters. No, that wasn't
quite right. She was in Bart's bed with Bart beside her in Young Justice headquarters. She was in so much trouble.

While Bart had a hard time getting to sleep, he had an even harder time waking up. So when a warm hand petted him, his first reaction was to make a soft sound and snuggle closer. The squeak, on the other hand, startled him awake because that was not something his half-asleep mind could interpret.

Starting awake, he only had a moment to take in his surroundings before the movement he made sent him crashing to the floor. "What the...?"

Then he blinked, looking around. "Tell me I'm dreaming..."

Because except for the fact that Cissie was freaking out, it might have been a very good dream.

"You usually dream about me in your bed?" Cissie burst out then blushed furiously once she realized what she said. "Wait, no! Don't answer that!" She was pretty sure she knew what the answer was and this was so not the time.

"I don't think you're dreaming... unless we both are? Can we even do that?" Cissie leaned over the side of the bed and offered Bart a hand. "I wonder if this is like when I was in New York with Claire."

"If it is, this wasn't my idea," Bart said, trying to decide if he really should stand up. And then he realized he really shouldn't because certain parts of his body had enjoyed being close to another person in bed and that didn't really bear explaining. Even thinking about it made him blush, and this was really not a good time.

"And, well, this hasn't been home to me in, well, ages."

At first, Kon wasn't sure why there was something different. It was just the way things were. Then he noticed something a little weird. He didn't feel the pillow underneath his face. Didn't feel the bed underneath him at all. At the realization, he fell and landed hard on said bed. He'd been flying. Wait, flying?! His eyes flew open and he glanced around. He knew this place. The old Young Justice headquarters. He hadn't been here in...years.

Slowly, hesitantly, he tried to hover again above the bed. It was like that expression about riding a bike. Just because you hadn't done it in a while, didn't mean you forgot. And he could fly!

With a whoop, he headed into the main room, calling out for Bart, Tim, Cissie, Cassie. Anyone. He hadn't gone back to where he'd come from, but he was flying and so he didn't really care about particulars like that. He hadn't been flying, really flying, in years.

"Where is everyone?!" He didn't even realize he was wearing his old uniform.

"Wow, I haven't seen that uniform in ages," Cissie remarked as she emerged from the kitchen with a drink in hand. She wasn't really sure yet how she felt about being home but at least Kon could fly here. She knew how much he had missed it - how he, Cassie and Bart had missed having their powers, actually.

"And I don't know. Bart's stuffing his face, Cassie took off and I'm not sure where Luke and Sam went off to."

Kon looked down and...whoa. "Oookay. That's funny. I mean, this is my uniform here, but I don't...I wore a different one when I was in the Titans." Weird. Weird that he was in this costume. Weird that they were here. Weird that… "Did you say Luke? The one that did that thing to Cassie that one time?"

He frowned. What, exactly, would he be doing here?

"Yeah," Cissie scowled at the memory. At least if he tried anything, he'd be in for a pretty rude awakening. "It's not bad enough that we have to worry about being here, but we've got to worry about him too."
