I'm thinking about moving back to Greensboro if I don't get into Grad school in New York City. The reason is because, I've been here for 2 years and I haven't make one new friend.
I'm working in the Mojave desert very hard. There was a wonderful sunset a few days ago. It turned the red and white crags all pink, reflecting the fairie glow of the clouds. Somehow, you popped in my head. "I wonder what Amanda is doing right now...?" I realize now that the sky was the same colour of your hair you dyed once. Pretty powerful of you!
I'm sorry you've not made friends up there. I haven't either. But, sad to say, I think most of our friends from Greensboro have probably left by now.
Keep trying on NYC, if it's your dream. But be open enough that you allow for the road taking you places you've never imagined, instead. :>
