Clearly the good doc has never been to Rocky. ;-)

The amusing part...he has. He went to the Rialto in South Pasadena many many years ago.

Scoliosis is no fun. There are exercises that you can do to help straighten out your spine in addition to chiropractic treatments. I know some of them, but do some research online to see if you find find out as many as you can.

I am currently allowed only 1 stretch. Next week he'll be giving me more stretches.

You should find out if your insurance covers a physical therapist. They specialize in mobility training and exercises.

Chiropractic treatments will not cure scoliosis. They help, but they can only help so much. Talk to a physical therapist.

I will look into it. I am inclined to stick with Dr. Smith because he specializes in runners. Its his goal to get me out running again.

He says that he guesses that he'll be able to correct my curve by 2 degrees. He's going to see me 3 times a week for the next 3 weeks. After that he'll see me once a month. After about six months he will take x-rays and re-evaulate how often I need to go in (hopefully less often).

He says that running is the perfect sport for me. He also says not a lot of chiropractors will say that unless they are used to dealing with runners.

do you have fellow runners who say he helped?

chiropractors are really hit and miss. some of them are charlatans who try to sign you up for lots and lots of sessions based on things they more or less make up. some of them believe that cracking the spine is a metaphysical act that, like meditation, opens your chakras and allows your spiritual energy to heal. rather than an actual physical improvement. they don't *say* that to you, but that's what they believe, and it allows them to sleep at night for charging huge sums in order to do ineffective treatments.

but others are really cool and remove your pain! I almost never have back pain now, and I had it CONSTANTLY before I started going to them.

anyway, I would definitely get a second opinion before shelling out huge amounts of doughs.

He's a good chiropractor. He comes HIGHLY recommended by both Team In Training as well as Run With Us and Pasadena Pacers. He is a very big name among local runners...because runners are his specialty. Even my dermatologist has heard of him and says that he is good.

I know a lot of people who have gone to him.

If any chiropractor can help me, I have full faith that it is Dr. Smith

Oh yeah, and he was voted Best Chiropractor In Pasadena =)
