Ok, I've updated my address with my bank, car insurance company, the DMV and voter registration, my gym, my cell phone company, ebay, paypal, and the post office. I have e-mailed my supervisor asking how to change my address with work.

It's been a while since I've done this and I'm currently drawing a blank. Who else needs to be notified of my new

Doctor, dentist, credit cards, any bills in your name, retirement accounts (if any). As for your "bank" and your "work" oftentimes you'll have to update your address multiple places. For example, with my bank, I had to change it for my checking account and credit card separately. At work, you have to make sure your health insurance company is updated, payroll is updated, HR is updated, the 401k account is updated, etc. In theory, all these work related updates should be taken care of by HR, but I've found something always slips through the cracks, so just be on the lookout for that.

And your driver's license isn't automatically updated...you'll probably need to specifically order a new license. If you get pulled over, they automatically send the ticket to the address on your DL.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to update former employers. Anyone who will be sending you a 2011 1099 form or w2 will need to know.

If you get pulled over, they'll mail the ticket to whatever address you confirm with them.

Cop that pulled me over didn't confirm shit. He showed me his radar gun, took my license, walked behind my car, filled out the ticket, then handed it to me. Very little talking. Definitely no confirmation of anything.

The DMV has the new address for both my drivers license and my vehicle. Their computer will reflect my new address, however I will not be recieving a new drivers license or registration card. If I get pulled over, I just have to make sure the officer uses the address on the change of address card I'm supposed to keep with my license. I got that one covered. ;)

Wow, it was a pain updating my address with work! I had to send the paperwork to HR and then send photo copies to 4 additional people! Oh...and somehow they already had my new address eventhough I had not yet provided it to them! weeeiiirrrdddd. My supervisor has given up trying to find out how that happened.

Don't forget to fill out the mail forwarding paperwork so that the Post office will forward all mail to your new address. That way you can update anyone else as you see the mail come in with the forwarding sticker on it. They'll forward mail for 6 months after you submit your request to have it done.
