The birth day

Allison Rain was born at 10:26 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24. She weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long. I was 39 weeks exactly, and it was also exactly 2 weeks after the first time I tried to have her.

*HUGE GIANT TACKLE-HUGS*

powerpuffer kind of spilled the beans in naturalbirth, so I was on pins and needles waiting for the story. :)

Oh, I am so, so happy for you that the final labor was so fast and strong. :) Her name is gorgeous, not that I'm biased or anything. :) :)

yeah, i heard about that. :-) i was like, "you said my name?!?!" but it was fine. i didn't tell her not to, and DID request the post, so uh, i can't really complain. she didn't say any details whatsoever though.

i never noticed before, but your alison is only one l and ours is two ... did you go by a nickname when you were little? we like alli and that's how i want to spell it, but it's a little unusual and people will probably do it wrong ... like ali or allie or ally or aly or who knows ...

i really wanted to ask you privately about it beforehand but i decided that we liked it enough that it wouldn't matter what you said anyway, so we kept our secret. plus, i don't know what our families would have said if they found out that i told somebody :-)

I think the two Ls is more common. There's actually a Facebook group for Alisons-with-one-L. :D My mom was anti-nickname and the bias rubbed off on me, so I've always been Alison, or Smiley. :P You know, I'm spelling Eddy's nickname a little odd too. I figure that his given name is not at all uncommon (nor is Allison) so it's OK if his nick is a little "U-neek". LOL.

I have to say though that I also love her middle name! I actually chose Natalie's middle name because it was a "water" word, and almost spelled it "brook" but DH thought that looked weird written out. :P See, "Eddy" is a water word, so I wanted something tying the kids' names together...

Ennyhoo, yay baby girls!! :D

eddy is a water word? maybe it's just lack of sleep talking, but i don't get it.

a lot of people have loved it so far, except my mother who made that "hmmm" sound. but she has since informed me that one of her friends at work has a granddaughter named ariel rain, so i don't know if that makes us less crazy in her mind or not. but it's good to know we aren't the only ones who thought it was pretty.
