Stephen rolled his eyes when I made him take these photos. He said, "None of your friends are going to notice that you cut your hair. Not even if you post the photos and say 'HEY GUYS! I wonder what it's like to have curly hair. I can't look good without layers, which is a bit inconvenient.

Your hair is very cute. I'm sure it's easier to manage now, too. But I dare you to get it cut short. :P

i haven't had it shorter than this since i was 18 years old! and trust me, it's hard to manage when it's too short to ponytail for the days that i just need it out of the way. i can't imagine MOVING with my curly hair down and falling in my face every ten seconds ...

If it's still falling in your face, then it's not short enough. (Or you can just wear barettes / headbands / hats / bandannas ...)

Looks good! My hair is right now above my shoulders and it's starting to feel too long for me. I'll probably cut it in the bathroom this weekend.

I finally got the curly girl book, but I don't have the time/motivation to read it yet. Maybe after I finish residency in a year, I can experiment.

you got it but won't read it!?!?!?!?!?!?

it's like a 40 minute read! you could do it at work while you eat, or in the evening instead of lj. why on earth would you spend the money on a new book and then not read it?

on another note, i got a chance to do my niece's hair today, the curly girls way, and she looked incredible! her mom blowdries it trying to "tame" her curls, but hell, she has shirley temple ringlets, embrace them!!!!!

anyway, she looked spectacular :-)

Melanie totally has ringlets now, but they frizz up in this weather...

I feel like there's no point in reading the book if there's no time to try any of the suggestions. It's all about making concoctions out of god knows what and buying products that I don't know how to find/can't afford and spending hours clipping up your hair. I have about 2 mins to spend on my hair in the morning these days.

lol! i found that my hair routine takes less time now :-)

you don't have to make the concoctions. it's up to you. i got some natural shampoo and conditioner at a natural foods store, but they sell it in the organic section of stores like fred meyer (grocery store) too.

the clips take five seconds. leave em in till you get to work, take em out in the car. you'll look fabulous! :-)

I think that's the shortest I've seen your hair in practically forever! I totally understand having long hair cut and no one ever cares as much as the grower.
