I'm a big kid now

With the brilliant bribe of prunes layed out in front of him, Ben sat on his potty for a full 45 minutes this morning while watching TV. Nothing happened, and so I asked him if he wanted his diaper back on. He said, "No. Ben sit on potty. Mama sit with you." So I sat next to him for the last 10 minutes of his show. And sure enough, he peed ( Read more... )

yeah, they are the cherry essense kind from sunsweet, which my mom is totally addicted to. i used to just let him have them, but they made for TERRIBLE diaper changes. ewwwwwww!!!!

so it was actually my mom who made the correlation, once you can go in the potty and don't need diapers anymore, you can eat prunes. but i'm the one who thought to say, one prune for each time you go pee-pee or poo-poo in the potty. he thought it was a great deal. the prunes are like candy to him :-)

Yay!!!! =) Lando has been gong pee pee in the potty lately, but not consistantly or anything. I try to ask his grandparents to put him on there while i am work - but they don't =/ I plan to take the week after his b-day off, I think we might just stay home and go full-on with the potty learning then...

for us, the trick was just getting it to happen once. then its like its old hat and he suddenly remembers everything he'd previously learned. :-)

Most excellent! I've been contemplating having some nekkid days here to get the ball rolling but I'm not certain she's ready yet. B and I agreed if she's not showing interest before her birthday that we'll try and start her when she turns two.

We aren't sure if we want to tackle potty or sleep first, though. I think we'll work on getting her out of our bed first so she's not wetting our bed (no matter how much I'd like a new mattress). ;)

Yay, Ben!! Keep up the good work! :)

even my friend Kelly's completely and perfectly trained 3-year-old still wears a diaper at night. they put it on him after he falls asleep, for "just in case."

is she in your bed full time? do you want to know what we've done with Ben thusfar, or is that too much butting in?

Not butting in at all. :) I can't remember who's been asked and who hasn't any more. I'd love to know. :)

well, at age 18 months, we put a twin mattress on the floor in our room. we put ben to sleep in his own bed and then when he woke at night, he would climb up to nurse and sleep the rest of the night with us. (he usually slept to 11 p.m. or midnight ( ... )

I guess by using prunes as a treat, you don't have to worry about constipation problems causing him to not want to go poo poo in the potty!

ha ha ha. he went in his pants this afternoon :-(

the thing that i was nervous about with the prunes is that he could end up not being able to MAKE it to the potty.
