Happy fake Thanksgiving everybody

My MIL started this brilliant idea last year of having Thanksgiving at her house the Saturday before actual Thanksgiving, so that everyone could be there. That way she didn't have to deal with all her daughters-in-law stealing her sons and grandchildren away to be with their families. She was frustrated that it was so hard to get everyone together

I love that idea. I hate having to pick sides on holidays. Don't eat too much fake turkey, it might be bad for you!

the turkey was very real. my SIL makes the best turkey on the planet! i don't know how she'll feel about my divulging her trade secrets on the intrawebz, but see, the trick is, rather than stuffing the turkey with stuffing (which is absorbant and draws all the juices out of the turkey and into the stuffing - making for great-tasting stuffing but dry nasty turkey) you stuff it with apples and onions, and they leak out their juice and flavor the turkey even more, keeping it super moist and delicious. I used to not even like turkey very much ... but her turkey is nummy.
