Aw, that made me all teary-eyed. Especially the part about your dad crying when he saw you. How many people did you have with you while you delivered?

my husband, his mom, my dad, my sister-in-law megan, my friend jessi, and friends brad and bryna got there just after Ben was born.

oh and one nurse and one doctor.

:-)

it's hard for me to read it, even now, two years later.

in all my worst case senarios, it was always ME that had the problem. i used to fear that i couldn't do it and they'd have to take him by emergecy c-section because i'd passed out of whimpyness. but not once in my wildest dreams did it occur to me that there would ever actually be anything wrong with the baby ...

Labor tends to bring out our fears and vulnerabilities. I was very much afraid of something happening to my son and had a hard time believing things would be okay until he was in my arms, which is why I gave in and agreed to an induction. I am looking forward to having a second chance at labor and birth in the future now that I have experience under my belt!

i couldn't have said it better. there are SO MANY things i'll be doing differently next time. cloth diapering, delayed solids, standing up for myself when doctors complain about wanting to delay vax, and most of all, being more patient waiting for baby to be ready to be done cooking.

and i wouldn't do a water birth again. my research has reflected that one of the reasons i tore with a 6'4 baby is because i wasn't able to stretch well, and the oil she put on me kept being washed away.
