Iceland happiness

'This scores me points. In Iceland, being a writer is pretty much the best thing you can be. Successful, struggling, published in books or only in your mind, it matters not. Icelanders adore their writers. Partly, this represents a kind of narcissism, since just about everyone in Iceland is a writer or poet. Taxi drivers, college professors, hotel ( Read more... )

I'd be pretty happy if I wasn't so damn stressed. Because we not only think we're all poets - like your average talentless Hollywood himbo we believe we're all secretly directors.

Ahh, so your theater activities are quite typical in Iceland? :) I think it's cool, regardless.

No chapter on Canada? How sad! And what about Aussies and kiwis?

Iceland has been on my list of places to visit for a long time...

It's interesting about the S.A.D. I personally don't believe it's as rampant in the US (or Canada for that matter) as people claim. It's likely just really over-diagnosed, like ADHD (Oh my god, my three year old is running around! I don't want to parent him... lets give him pills!).

There are no chapters on many other countries. I guess he can only visit so many. Or maybe he had nothing to say about them :P

I don't know much about SAD or ADHD but they sound easy to misdiagnose. Like with a hyper kid, sometimes they just need outlets for all that energy. I've seen kids like that before. I'd rather let them play hard till they konk out at night rather than drug them.

Everything I know about SAD I learned from here: http://www.theonion.com/content/opinion/wah_wah_i_have_seasonal
