Vash was seated at one of the tables, since it was his lunch break, and he was eating lunch! Well, he wasn't so much eating lunch as he was shoveling it down. He was doing a pretty good impression of a vaccum cleaner, only without all the embarrassing sucking sounds. It was a wonder that he didn't choke, maybe, but he had been doing this for years now. Practice makes perfect.

He didn't even notice Gin standing there at first, until he happened to look up and spot the man standing there near the kitchen doors. Vash blinked, and took a quick drink of water to clear his throat before offering a small wave. He might as well be polite to the man, right?

Gin waved cheerfully from across the room. Humming a few stanzas of an old ballad cheerfully, he crossed to the table and sat down.

"You don't mind, do ya?" said Gin, as an unnecessary formality; he was staying there whether Vash liked it or not. After observing the other man for a moment, he added, "...wouldn't be too good if y' choked, you know."

He set down his fork and gave the man another, briefer wave, indicating that he needed a moment. Vash had to take another drink to help himself swallow, but once he did that he was actually able to speak. "Nah, I don't mind! And you know, I never choke." Well, okay, that wasn't the complete truth. There had been a few times in the past where he had, but that was because some people liked doing surprising things while he was trying to eat.

"Ah... not going to get any food?", he asked after a few seconds, blinking. Vash couldn't imagine why else Gin had come in here, except to eat, and yet the other man hadn't even stopped for food when he came in.

"Well, that's good, then," said Gin, his smirk widening. "It'd be pretty unfortunate if you did, wouldn't it?"

He leaned back in his chair, wrapping his fingers around Vash's unused knife. "I ain't hungry, really." Toying with the blade, he continued, "More'n two meals a day's too much, don'tcha think?"

Knife. Vash couldn't help but notice it when Gin picked that up, but tried not to look too obvious about keeping an eye on him. It was from force of habit, mostly. "For you, maybe! I get pretty hungry around lunch." Of course, Vash was one of those people who greatly enjoyed food, and didn't miss a meal unless he had to.

Speaking of food, most of Vash's was gone by now, thanks to the way he had been devouring it earlier. Now that he was actually talking to someone, he took it much more slower, keeping his attention on Gin even as he scooped up his fork again.
