i am itchy most of the time

on saturday i went to the library to look at books because i felt a distinct literary void in my life. i have almost finished the jack gilbert books and the ones i have here i've either browsed or don't feel interested in. i opened adrian tomine's new "shortcomings" book and read most of it quickly (it is a graphic novel). i was disgusted by how ( Read more... )

i broke the window shade because i had to break the window shade because there is something about repeating an action in your life that has to resemble the first time you did it, or the second. Because I can't come to Boston and not break something. Because I can't read a poem without crying. Because I can't stop being self conscious. Because I can't stop wishing people could replace you.

i have read "wise blood" by flannery o'connor. i also have watched the movie. my mom really likes that story and so sometimes my dad quotes parts of it and makes her laugh. i'll definitely have to get on the cormac mccarthy train. two people with literary tastes i trust giving me the same recommendation is a good sign.
