[ After the whole fiasco with having to take down Jack Horner's dragon form, Lightning's been thinking a lot lately-- namely, about her own trouble with maintaining a human form and fallout from failing against her will several months ago- both things which, frankly, she's been trying to avoid

I... I guess we should go someplace where we won't damage any of the village, huh. [A bit of an amused smile crosses his face.] So you just figured out how to do that stuff today?

Yeah. Don't want to harm the forest either, though.
[ She... thinks the two of them could probably fend off Moro, but it's best not to even go there if possible. Anyway... ]
More or less. [ It's much harder to tell now than it was before, though she hopes she doesn't have to mention that. If she's already described to anyone the newer limits on her magic, it's bound to be Hope. ] I've... been trying for about a week or so.

Did you try casting them on anyone else yet?
[He shifts his weight a little, lifting a wrist to sweep it across his brow. It is rather warm out, and he's already broken a bit of a sweat from the walking they've done. At least he's grown out of whining about it. (At least in this current point in time.)]
Try casting one on me. We'll see if it works. Sometimes it's difficult to tell if you only have yourself to try them on.

I haven't. And we already know healing works on others, but... there's no way to know yet whether it will work on people who aren't l'Cie too. [ She lets out a quick breath, at once relaxing by force and readying herself. ] So... best to experiment with what we do know first.
[ And after that bout of unnecessary explanation interchange, she'll get right on actually doing as suggested- she had been talking about Protect, but then she chooses Faith to initially try on Hope instead. Kind of an odd choice, but again, it's something that would seem to be pretty l'Cie-exclusive. It also came to her first, even if it would be hard to tell with the amount of obvious effort it takes to finally produce it... ]

You can do that, too?
[He's hesitant to actually cast offensive magic in Lightning's direction, nervous of how her ability to mitigate it would extend here-and though it's unbidden, the first thing his memory conjures up is that horrible image he witnessed over the journal. That involved magic, too, even if it was different from this.
So instead, after a crack of the wrist, he'll be sending a blast of thunder where it won't harm anyone: straight over the lake. With the boost, he'll find that it doesn't bring his skill entirely back up to speed with how it was before he arrived here... but there's a definite marked change.]
I think it works. I don't know if casting it at you is a good idea or not... can you use Shell, too?

I don't think so. Doesn't seem like it would be much harder than Protect though, right?
[ It would be strange if she learned one and not the other... she'll keep trying and see what happens, then. ]
