Um... so how come all of a sudden I plug in Wally to get recharged and to put Don Cha on it, and iTunes is insisting that there's no iPod connected. WTF

Mine did that once. I restarted the computer and all was well. I think the first time I plugged in Rupert I had to manually start iTunes.

Definitely familiar - happened to me several times. Restart the iPod (hold down the center button and the play/pause section on the bottom of the click wheel) and everything should be working. Restarting also doesn't mess with your songs or playlist, so don't worry about that ;)
