Are you f'ing kidding me!?

Forty-six percent of Americans approve of Bush's handling of the [hurricane Katrina] crisis, while 47 percent disapprove. That compares poorly with Bush's 91 percent approval rating for his performance in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but it's far from the broad discontent expressed by critics of ( Read more... )

I cannot possibly believe that poll is accurate. There is just no fucking way.

There can't be. I just have no faith in polls at times like this. But IF it was true... *head explodes*... IF it was true, you have to ask, WHAT would it take for people to see this administration for what it is, then?

The date was recent on it, and it claims to reflect Katrina fallout, but I can't believe that's true. It's also an ABC poll. The latest CNN/Gallup poll was conducted Sunday through Tuesday -- and Tuesday was when New Orleans deteriorated into hell. In that poll, he's at 45% overall (which is mind boggling in and of itself), but I expect that to crater in the next poll.

And the other 7% think... what, exactly? It's not like this is something that most people are sitting on the fence over.

I also feel like I have to mention that conducting a phone poll on the administration's handling of Katrina and not qualifying the results is a lot like conducting a phone poll on... well, I'll borrow an example and say like conducting a phone poll on marijuana legalisation and limiting your sample to Bob Marley and the Whalers. And I'm not saying that the rest of America (and, hell, the rest of the world) doesn't care, because this past week has proven that like nothing else, but the vast majority of the people who've been directly affected are having just a little difficulty answering their landlines.

I haven't seen the polling model, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had two kinds of dis/approve (strongly approve, approve) and then a "no opinion" choice. HOW you can have no opinion on this is beyond me, but there are some jerks who wouldn't give a reasonable answer.

the vast majority of the people who've been directly affected are having just a little difficulty answering their landlines.

Oh, but didn't you get the latest talking points from Karl Rove? This is not the time to play the blame-game. ARGH!

I'm not surprised by this at all. As the lone sane person in an office full of Republicans, I can tell you the die-hard Bush supporters are refusing to admit how badly this has been bungled.

My boss, sweartagawd, actually said out loud that "what those looters are doing down there, they're just like the terrorists."

Heee! I feel your pain; I was the lone Gore voter in an office full of fervent Bushsupporters -- in Texas. ;)

My boss, sweartagawd, actually said out loud that "what those looters are doing down there, they're just like the terrorists."

::blink:: Wow. Just -- wow. 'Cause breaking into abandoned stores to get water and formula for your dying baby is just like blowing up buses full of innocent civilians. JUST LIKE. ::headdes::

You have to remember that most people -- MOST people, as in the vast majority -- are stupid. Sad but true.
